Pest control is the art of targeting. Every infestation is unique: the species, its population, its life cycle, its entry and retreat points, its link with environmental conditions (humidity, heat, openings). Where the industrial reflex is to "spray everything", our method is to "understand everything first".
## The most common species in Monaco and on the Riviera
**Bed bugs (*Cimex lectularius*).** Top risk for international hospitality and rental residences. Travel in luggage, settle in days in mattress seams, behind headboards, in skirting boards. Our high-temperature dry steam protocol (> 120 °C) + residual treatment + D+14 follow-up breaks the larval cycle.
**Cockroaches (*Blattella germanica*, *Periplaneta americana*).** Professional kitchens, yacht crew mess, cold rooms, garbage chutes. Hard to eradicate without a professional bait gel. Broad-spectrum sprays simply scatter the population.
**Tiger mosquito (*Aedes albopictus*).** Endemic on the Riviera since the early 2000s. Our intervention always begins by removing larval breeding sites — not spraying. Biological Bti treatment is only used as a complement, never as a first measure.
**Asian and European hornets.** April → October. Destroying a primary nest in April costs ten times less than a secondary nest in July, and protects tens of thousands of bees. High-rise secured intervention, telescopic pole, regulatory-compliant biocides injected at nest core.
**Ants (carpenter, pharaoh, Argentine).** Argentine ants have become invasive across the French Riviera. Bait gel approach transported by workers up to the queen. No surface spraying that would only scatter colonies.
**Pantry and textile moths.** Kitchens (flour, rice, dried fruit), wardrobes (wool, cashmere). Treatment by pheromone traps, dry steam, and — for precious textiles — controlled freezing at -25 °C for 72 hours.
## Our four-stage protocol
**1. Species identification.** Photos, samples, binocular identification if necessary. Wrong diagnosis leads to wrong treatment.
**2. Population assessment.** Sentinel traps, capture map, activity indicators. A 20-individual infestation is not treated like a 2,000-colony one.
**3. Minimal effective treatment.** Dry steam, bait gels, targeted regulatory-compliant spraying, micro-injection. Always respecting humans, pets and useful wildlife (bees, geckos, hedgehogs).
**4. Follow-up and closure.** Scheduled return at D+14 or D+21 depending on the species, trap checks, protocol adjustment. Digital report with before/after photos.
