A pest control emergency doesn't give notice — and doesn't respect business hours. In Monaco, MPS provides 24/7 on-call every day, weekends, nights and holidays included for situations that can't wait until Monday morning. Here is when to call, what to expect, and what to do while you wait.
When to call the 24/7 on-call
Our on-call is reserved for immediate-risk situations — not routine tasks that can wait. Five typical scenarios justify a night or weekend call:
- Active wasp / hornet nest near a passageway — children in the garden, pool open, restaurant terrace in service, school exit
- Rats visible in a professional kitchen — restaurant, canteen, hotel kitchen before breakfast service
- Cockroaches in a restaurant dining room — reported before opening, service compromised
- Bed bugs in a hotel room — guest just reported, next reservation in 3-6h
- Sudden rodent invasion — multiple visible signs in a home, especially near a baby or elderly person

How to call

Whether you are a regular customer or first contact, our on-call takes the time to: - Ask you 3-4 precise questions (visible pest type, estimated number, location, presence of children/pets/allergic persons) - Confirm that it's really an emergency — if the case can wait, we tell you frankly and schedule Monday - Estimate a realistic delay — 60 to 120 minutes weekday evenings, 90 to 180 minutes Sundays/holidays depending on distance - Give you 3 immediate instructions to apply before our arrival (move children away, close access, don't spray anything)
What happens while you wait
- Stay calm — a panicked pest causes much more damage than a calm one. Don't chase it.
- Do NOT use household aerosol insecticide — a disturbed wasp or hornet nest releases alarm pheromones triggering a coordinated attack
- Photograph if possible — helps our technician prepare the right equipment (nest = 15m pole? cockroaches = gel bait? etc.)
- Isolate the zone — close the affected room, keep any person 5 metres away for venomous insects

Our 24/7 on-call interventions are priced as a package by type and complexity — no surprises. For reference, an accessible Monaco villa wasp nest: package ~180-320 € tax-included in peak season, nest removal included. An isolated cockroach reported in a closed restaurant: package ~250-450 €, HACCP report included. Immediate oral quote by phone, confirmed by email within 60 minutes.
Home insurance: for venomous insect nests (European hornets in particular), most home insurance policies cover all or part of the intervention. We provide a detailed certificate with Certibiocide N°121134 number, incident description, treatment method — accepted by MMA, MAIF, AXA, Allianz, Generali.

- Is 24/7 on-call charged more than weekdays?
- No for real emergencies. Our pricing grid is uniform — a wasp nest costs the same price on a Sunday at 9pm or a Tuesday at 2pm. We refuse arbitrary 'night/weekend' fees that penalise real emergencies. Only exception: purely comfort interventions requested in the middle of the night (rare) can be postponed to the next day without surcharge.
- What if I get an answering machine?
- That shouldn't happen — our on-call is meant to pick up within 3 rings 24/7. If however you get an answering machine, leave a CLEAR message (name, phone, city, problem type in 1 sentence) — we call back within 15 minutes max. In the meantime, also send an SMS to +33 6 XX XX XX XX or a WhatsApp — these channels trigger a parallel alert to the on-call team.
- Does on-call work on Monegasque public holidays?
- Yes, 100% of the year's days: New Year 1 January, Sainte-Dévote 27 January, Prince's Day 19 November, National Day, all Catholic holidays (Easter, Ascension, Pentecost, Assumption, All Saints, Christmas) — on-call is active. Pest control emergencies don't know public holidays.
- Can I cancel an emergency intervention if the pest disappears?
- Yes free of charge if cancellation occurs before the technician leaves their starting point. Once en route, a small mileage allowance may be invoiced (30-60 €) for the empty trip. We far prefer a prudent cancellation over a forced intervention on a case that eventually resolved itself.
- Do you handle yacht emergencies at Port Hercule at night?
- Yes, specifically configured for it. Our 24/7 yacht on-call covers Port Hercule and Fontvieille with usual access (port badge, harbour master coordination), team in civilian dress without logo, unmarked vehicle. Typical cases: guest bed-bug report before charter, cockroach in crew cabin before owner arrival, rat on gangway before exhibitor show. Discreet intervention 60-90 minutes.
